AXC 6 results
Conwaybjj had a great night of fights. Ben and Daniel both put on awesome shows.
Daniel won his fight by triangle choke with just seconds left of the first round. He looked great on his feet, and on the ground.
Ben lost by split decision, to a very tough opponent in what many believed was the fight of the night. The pics below don’t really show the full story of Ben’s fight. The first round was close. Ben shot a takedown but had to work really hard to finish it which didn’t leave alot of time to work. The second round was all Ben. Completed the takedown and maintained top control most of the round, went for several submissions but wasn’t able to finish them. In the Third, Ben took a hell of a shot to the nose, and was bleeding like crazy. They stopped the fight in the middle of the third for the doctor to check his nose. It wouldn’t stop bleeding, but he NEVER quit. He convinced the doctor to let him fight, and he kept attacking. Ben easily could have taken the easy way out and let them stop that fight but he refused and kept going. Ben finished that third round on all heart. Ben’s heart carried that fight to the decision, rather than letting the doctor stop it. If one more judge would have given that first round to Ben, he would have won that fight. I think Ben set the bar high. He showed what kind of heart all of us hope to be able to fight with. To put it in perspective, I was told they had to bring out a mop to get the cage ready for the next fight, and he never quit.

It was a great night and thanks to everyone for always supporting our gym. It really means alot to everyone who steps in the cage to know so many people are behind us. I believe the next show will be in April.

great fights guys! daniel, great sub! you had a great game plan and stuck to it well. ben, that was an awesome fight and i think you got robbed, lots of submission attempts and a very close rear naked choke. that dude was saved by the bell! the judges forgot about rounds 1 & 2 when they saw all of that blood, but i think you had it. you stayed very composed throughout the whole fight and i think it was definately the fight of the night. congratulations to the whole gym for the great showing and a great night!
seriously, the mark of a warrior is one that can fall nine times and get up the tenth. I saw a lot of that this fight.

I agree with Vern 100% regarding that first round.
Great job to both of you guys. I spoke to one of the judges after the fights that night, I was told that the judges they bring in for these events are for the most part, boxing or stand-up oriented judges. If not for that I believe Ben would have won that fight. The bell saved his opponent two rounds in a row. Big props to him though he was tough and did have some heavy hands. I’m very proud of Ben and Danial both. You guys make it all worth while.
So much credit needs to go to the awesome program at ConwayBJJ. The mix of the first class juijitsu, wrestling, and boxing and the dedication of the Jeff, James, and Shon is very hard to find. You guys are awesome.
Now let’s get ready for some more fights!
The next AXC show will be in April, and I believe in Cabot. So far, Joe Sexson is looking to make his debut, Hopefully Scott D. will be ready again, Jeff should be healed up in time for April, and I do plan on at least weighing in again!!!
Just kidding, I do plan on fighting…Kirby has assured me he will line me up with 3 opponents so two can back out and I’ll still have a fight!!
This means training at Westside Saturdays, training Sunday evenings, and anyone fighting will be on the Jeff Hardy strength building routine also.
ben and I watch the ark mma on tv. we has seen james and jeff. great work and great entertainment. we wish you continued success in your conway program. ben’s still running track and cross country. He wears his conway bjj teeshirt frequently and is proud to have trained with you for a short time. I believe your program would help any young man become a better person.
Thanks Bob for the great comments. Ben is welcome back anytime he’s ready. Its important he does those other sports while he can. We’ll be here in future when he’s ready to train some more.
